Melanie Swisher CID, AIA

Founder & Principal

Melanie founded AIOA in 1990 and quickly established a reputation for providing renovation solutions to the most well-known hotel brands in the world.  Prior to establishing AIOA, Melanie was the director of interior design for Marriott International. With a unique talent for seeing the underlying potential in every hotel and restaurant, Melanie is best known for her uncompromising attention to detail.  Melanie is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and holds a B.A. in Architecture and a B.S. in Building Science.

Amanda

Amanda McFall, Allied ASID

Vice President, Interior Design

Amanda has worked for AIOA for over five years. She oversees all design projects and is responsible for production and finish selection. Amanda is best known for her expert knowledge of hotel brand standards, and also for her impeccable finish selections which typically incorporate bold patterns and whimsical, colorful flourishes. She graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Interior Design.

Melissa Thomas

Vice President, Construction Documentation

Melissa has been critical to the AIOA team since she joined the company in 2005. She oversees all construction documentation, detail drawings and project management. She also oversees AIOA’s team of project coordinators. Prior to joining AIOA, she worked at several architectural firms all of which have honed her design skills and technical expertise. In her spare time, Melissa has worked pro bono to renovate and rehabilitate Camp Whippoorwill, a historic, 19-acre wooded camp for the Girl Scouts of America, located on the banks of the Magothy River. She holds a degree in Architecture and Interior Design.

Dorothy Green, ASID, CID

Senior Design Director

Dorothy is an integral member of the AIOA team, having worked for the firm since 1998 and has helped set the firm’s style and design direction. She is widely regarded in the hotel industry for her tailored style and acute eye for color. She is also expert at designing custom furniture and finishes. Prior to joining AIOA, she worked as an interior designer for Woodward & Lothrop Company where she focused on upscale private residences. She holds a B.A. in Fine Art from the University of Maryland.

Scott Beatty, NCARB

Project Architect

Scott has worked for AIOA since 2010, where he is involved in construction drawings, construction administration, and specification review and coordination. He has over 10 years of experience in commercial and residential architecture. Prior to joining AIOA, Scott worked at architectural firms focused on commercial, manufacturing, and residential architecture in Maryland and in Santa Barbara, California. Scott holds a B.F.A. and a M.Arch. in Architecture from the Savannah College of Art & Design.

Brett Willman

Architectural Coordinator

Brett brings over 15 years of professional experience in architectural drawing and construction documentation to AIOA. His specialty is millwork, fine carpentry and cabinetry, and he is an especially detail-oriented and meticulous documentation technician. Prior to joining AIOA, he worked in residential design, construction and renovation. Brett has always had a passion for architecture, and has been drafting since he was a young boy. In his spare time, Brett restores antique boats, a hobby which combines his love of architecture, woodworking and boating. He holds a degree in Architecture.

Janine

Janine Yorio

Janine has over a decade of hotel investment and development experience having worked as the director of acquisitions and development for Andre Balazs Properties (owner of the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, the Mercer Hotel in New York and the Standard Hotels in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles) and as a Managing Director for NorthStar Capital, the real estate private equity firm that capitalized Ian Schrager’s hotel company, which ultimately completed an initial public offering as Morgans Hotel Group (Nasdaq: MHGC). She began her career in investment banking at Salomon Brothers. Janine has extensive experience in financial analysis, negotiation, legal documentation, development, acquisitions, dispositions, and financing. Janine is a graduate of Yale University.
